Last week I wrote about not beating yourself up when life gets in the way of writing. I’m going to have to take my own advice on that one. That, and offer an apology for not having much of an indepth post for you today…and the post being almost 12 hours later than usual.
Yeah, life has definitely gotten in the way. Last Friday was my birthday, so between that and Mother’s Day, and packing for my move, I’ve had almost not time to do anything besides, well, pack. I’m moving to a new apartment Friday, and I’m excited about it. But my writing time has suffered.
My online critique group has hit a bit of a rough patch. We started with 12 members and are down to 3, so I only got 1 critique for my last submission. Last week I went through and marked up my hard copy with notes from that critique. Now I need to work those changes into the manuscript. I also need to rewrite the first chapter or two, and fix up the first twenty or so chapters to incorporate the new backstory for my main character’s investigation. It’s a lot of work, and I look forward to having time to get it done, so I can move on with editing.
I also look forward to having time to read the book my best friend gave me for my birthday – Ray Bradbury’s “Zen in the Art of Writing.” I’ve been wanting that book for a long time, but for whatever reason simply haven’t bought it yet. So now I have it. Yay!!
So there’s my brief update on my scant writing/editing progress. Hopefully I’ll be able to post more next week.
