For a long time John and I have been talking about volunteering at a dog shelter. First we wanted to help the shelter we adopted Emmy from, but they were an hour and a half away from where we live. Finally today we went to volunteer orientation at the shelter not ten minutes from our house, Belleville Area Humane Society. Unfortunately we weren’t able to stay and help today, but we’ll go back later in the week to help walk and play with dogs. Part of me is saying this is a terrible time to take on yet another task with everything else I have going on in my life. But I’ve been putting this off for far too long. What’s a few hours to help animals who don’t even have a home? I can afford those hours.
The only trick will me managing to NOT bring a new dog home each time I volunteer.
I should start taking bets on how many dogs I’ll have by the end of 2013.
