I finished this pass of editing Divided Heart last week. Why 1ish? Well, I made 2 passes through last year before I really learned how to edit (though I’m still learning.) So technically it’s 3, but I’m calling it 1ish. My goal was to finish editing it by the end of June. I’m going to call that goal a success, even though I want to do 1 more pass through to fix my “show don’t tell” problems. I could still finish, but I’m taking a workshop about this topic right now, and I want to wait till it’s over to make my last pass of revisions.
I haven’t worked on my outline for Ravaged Heart yet, and it’s looking like I won’t get too much work on it done before July 1. I have a busy week ahead of me. Thursday looks to be the only night I’ll have time for any writing related work. So I’ll do what I can then. I may take the first day or 2 of July to work on the outline, or some basic plotting ideas. Even if I do, I’m confident that I can write 50,000 words. Heck, the past 2 NaNoWriMos it only took me 15 days to write 50,000 words.
Once my workshop is over I think I’ll write a post about the difference between showing vs. telling. Or, I’ll do the best I can at it. I understand better already after the first week, but this is definitely one of the toughest areas for me. I think it is for a lot of writers. So if I can post something that will help anyone, I’ll feel good about it.
