I haven’t accomplished much since my last post. The weather has sucked this week, I’ve been feeling the winter blahs, and just haven’t done much. I finally did the exercise from How to Think Sideways lesson 1. I’ve been doing a poor job of keeping up with my Daily Pages. And little projects keep bumping my larger ones to the back burner. Things like, I need to finish scanning that pile of papers stacked on my desk. Yes, I do, but really, can’t it wait? Apparently not. Procrastination by way of performing minor tasks. I guess it’s better than procrastination via TV.
In brighter news, EMILIE AUTUMN IS COMING TO ST. LOUIS!!!! Yes, I already have tickets to see her in Cleveland, OH. (Long story as to why Cleveland.) So of course I went online the second they went on sale and bought VIP tickets. They cost a lot more than regular tickets, but you get to go to the meet and greet before the show, where EA will perform a 20 minute classical violin concert just for the 35 VIP ticket holders, we will have some of the new Asylum Tea with EA, and get some goodies, as well as a picture with her. Yes, I have VIP tickets for Cleveland, but my best friend needs to experience this too, so I shelled out the extra money for more. I. Can. Not. Wait. Seriously. I may be more excited about this than I was about Dream Theater and Iron Maiden touring together this past summer. It’s close.
To continue the good news, I mailed off the claim form from the fire yesterday. I’ve already thought of a few items I forgot to add (dish towels), but I still have plenty dish towels, so it’s not a big deal, I suppose. Now begins the waiting to see if this will be a simple case of waiting for the check, or if they will question each and every item (or even just a few) on the list. They said it would be 2-3 weeks from the time they receive the claim form to when I receive a check. I’m guessing since it’s the holidays, it will be closer to 3 weeks. I wouldn’t even be surprised if it was 4.
Finally, I bought a treadmill. It arrived yesterday, though I’m not thrilled with the shipping company. They said they’re not allowed to bring it inside, so they left it on my back porch. Which has a step to get up into the apartment. And it was icy. And do you know how much a treadmill weighs? So I couldn’t leave the thing outside in the freezing rain for fear it would be damaged before I ever opened the box. John was very sick, to the point where he barely had energy to get up off the couch, so he certainly couldn’t help me with it. And as much as I’d like to say I’m a super-strength muscle woman, that would be a lie, so there was no way I was going to get it up that step – on an icy porch – by myself. Thankfully I live only a few miles from my parents, so I called my dad and asked him to come help me, which he did. We got it inside and unpacked, but it looks to be more than a small task to put together, so I’m saving that for the weekend. Now the biggest trick will be to actually use the darn thing…and not for a clothes rack. But I have a wedding to get in shape for. If that isn’t incentive enough, nothing is.
