It’s official! A month of literary abandon has begun. I’m off to a good start thanks to our midnight kickoff party. Even though my back got sore from sitting cross-legged on the floor for 2 hours, I tapped out 2510 words in less than 2 hours! And I don’t hate the beginning of my novel! I took today off work, slept in a bit, have cleared out my RSS feed and checked the regional forum, and will soon go back to writing. I have tomorrow off as well, then the weekend, so I’m going to see how far ahead I can get to compensate for any rough days that may rear their ugly heads this month. Between today, the First Night Write In tonight, a write-in Saturday AND Sunday, I think I’ll be able to get pretty far ahead. That doesn’t mean I’ll take a break though. Nope, I’ll keep tapping away to get at least 1667 words a day.
I’ve also decided I’m going to reward myself each day I reach the goal of 1667 words by adding a coffee bean sticker to my Moleskine. I found these amazing scented stickers in the dollar bin at Target (among other coffee-themed goodies.) I mean, how long has it been since you’ve had scratch-and-sniff stickers? It’s been AGES for me! And I love stickers, and coffee, so this is going to be pretty awesome for me. 🙂
I’m so tempted to go back and buy ALL THE STICKERS from Target, but I know I really don’t need that many, and I should let someone else get as much joy from them as I did. So I shall refrain. Though I did also buy a coffee luggage tag, pens, and a cute little sign stating that coffee is your friend to hang in my cubicle at work.
OK, enough talk of coffee! It’s time to drink some and get to writing!
