Happy Father’s Day to all the dads out there, and especially mine. My parents both came over today to help me while recovering from surgery. We talked, watched YouTube videos, ate Mom’s lasagna, cauliflower salad and strawberry shortcake for lunch, and watched Silver Linings Playbook.
I’m so thankful for my dad. I’ve always been, without a doubt, Daddy’s Little Girl, even to this day. He spoiled me with stuffed animals from the toy store, and drove me all around town when I was 4 years old to find me a Cringer/Battlecat He-Man action figure that had just come out. We’d act out the epic sword fight between Inigo Montoya and Count Rugen with wrapping paper swords in the basement, with me saying “son of a bleep” instead of “son of a bitch” (I was too young to cuss back then…at least in front of my parents!)
He’s been there to give job and career advice, or to just listen when I needed to let out steam about a particularly frustrating day at work or a big disappointment. I wouldn’t be the woman I am today without him, and am eternally grateful for everything he’s done – and continues to do – for me.
